We are currently conducting a parent-child pair study called GENMATH!

The GENMATH study focuses on difficulties in mathematics and the intergenerational transmission of mathematical abilities.

Your child is between 8 and 11 years old, is in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade, and does not have any non-removable dental appliances?

We are looking for participants, both children and adults, whether or not they experience difficulties in mathematics. Here is the study procedure:

1. A 5-minute videoconference to confirm your participation.

2. First appointment in Bron for about 2 hours: where you and your child will do mathematics, reading, and reasoning exercises. Your child will be able to discover our inflatable mock MRI to get familiar with the workings and sounds of a real MRI, as well as the exercises to be done during the second appointment.

3. Second appointment in Bron for about 2 hours: where you and your child will undergo the real fMRI, and you will each leave with photos of your brain (and we will too 😉!).

Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) is done without contrast injection, it is safe and poses no health risk. The study is compensated 100 € for both appointments. To participate, please fill out the contact form below. We will contact you promptly to schedule an appointment. 😊 We thank you in advance for your valuable contribution to scientific research, which helps us better understand how the brain works.

You can find more information about what typically happens in our fMRI studies here (in French). Your child can also read about our studies here (in French). Finally, you might want to read our Frequently Asked Questions here (in French).
